I have a website which I just want to get a JSON response from:

http://bitshift.io/masterserver/api.php?action=server-update

that URL works fine in a webbrowser, but when I connect through an app I am writing I get an error back:

This site requires Javascript to work, please enable Javascript in your browser or use a browser with Javascript support

Someone said that the host should have some option to disable this if not, to find a new host.

I see other people having the same problem on profreehost:

This php code has been validated and works on other hosts I am also evaluating.
How do I configure my account to fix this?

Hello,
this security system is mandatory on all free hosting accounts and cannot be disabled.
Solutions for you:

  1. Use CloudFlare from cpanel, enable Full SSL and wait till it propagates, after the SSL is enabled and your site shows as secure you will be able to get the JSON response from your app.
  2. Upgrade to Premium Hosting. There, this system will not exist and you will have many more amazing features like a free SSL certificate from Let’s Encrypt and faster website loading.
